Air Travel

International and some domestic flights land at Kansai International Airport, near Osaka. Osaka's Itami Airport handles all regional flights. To get to downtown Kyoto from Kansai, take the JR Haruka Limited Express, a train that departs every half hour (75 minutes; ¥3,490). From Itami, buses depart approximately every 20 minutes between 8:10 am and 9:20 pm (from 55 to 90 minutes; from ¥1,280 to ¥1,370). MK Taxi offers shuttle buses from both Kansai (¥3,500) and Itami (¥2,300); reserve in advance.
